Born in 1962 in Groningen, Netherlands, he ives in Amsterdam.

In the work of Aernout Mik, spectators move around in the midst of enveloping architecture and hypnotic images. The figures in his video installations seem to fade into each other in the course of repetitive, mimetic actions that can be violent and/or slow. For Mik, relations with the other develop on complex levels that lie beyond the purely psychological. The interdependent relation with space and time, with the animate and the inanimate, endow group relations with an almost inorganic, biological quality.

Coproduction Fundació La Caixa, Barcelona; exhibition organised by les Abattoirs  – Musée Frac Occitanie Toulouse.
