Born 1934 in Borgofranco d'Icrea (Italy), he lives in Turin (Italy).

Giovanni Anselmo is associated with the Arte Povera and Conceptual Art movements, the latter because of his interest in the link between idea and perception. Although his works usually take the form of sculptures, his chief materials are the thought and energy found in the world. His pieces using light and projection are based on the tension between contraries such as visible/invisible, finite/infinite and whole/part.

For the festival, Giovanni Anselmo has devised a new presentation of Particolare (1974) for one of the rooms in the Abattoirs.
