Born 1931 in Denver, (USA), he lives in Chicago (USA).
Robert Heineken is famous as a pioneer in the artistic use, transformation and subversion of mass-media images. He is interested in popular imagery and collects banal and trivial images from mass market magazines which he then assembles in complex compositions and collages. A visual cacophony of colours and forms, with reliefs, paintings and stills, his critical art comments in a cynical, insolent fashion on such diverse subjects as sex, politics and economics.
An ensemble formed by four photographic collages around the figure of Shiva is presented at les Abattoirs – Musée Frac Occitanie Toulouse.
