Born in 1978 in Pessac (France), she lives and works in Paris and in Berlin.

Elise Florenty is interested in language, not as a dynamic structure but more especially as a process of stating thoughts. Her work has more to do with monologue than dialogue, like an introspection (sometimes a memory) which is nevertheless presented to be understood and to reverberate in a collective way. In her films, the audience enters fully into the mechanism of mental and often devious procedures. Made from drawings in contrasting black and white, and meticulously borrowing images and sequences coming from eclectic sources (TV, archives, photographs...), her videos overlay several strata of reality. They are plunges into the psyche which express the complexity of the relationship linking individual people to the world. The installations which at times go hand-in-hand with the films are part of this immersion, proposing the physical experience of a pathological relation to space.
