Born in 1935 in Saint-Gall (Switzerland), she lives between Cobera de Llobregat (Spain) and Vufflens-le-Château (Switzerland).

Pioneers of the video and inventors of the “Archives of the Future”, Silvie and Chérif (1932-1994) Defraoui were also the founders of the famous “Média Mixte” studio at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Geneva which made a huge contribution to the development of the artistic scene in French-speaking Switzerland. The video by Silvie Defraoui, Bruits de surface, questions our relationship with memory, and with the relief of destruction of memory through image.

What does the festival’s subtitle “Here where I am doesn’t exist” mean to you?
Things are different from what they aren’t.

What does art help you accomplish?

It’s the eye which defines the horizon.

Exhibition mounted with the support of the Goethe-Institut.
