"Ye that hath seen me, hath seen Baby Kain and no one cometh to my father except by me. My name is Kain The Poet and I just got here!”

The American poet, actor and dramatist Kain has been active on the New York scene since the late 1960s. He is internationally known for his profound influence on spoken word, poetry and performance work, which constitute the origins of rap. In 1970 he produced the seminal album Blue Guerrilla, a foundational work for the music to come. Many other artists have been profoundly influenced by Kain and have sampled his inimitable voice – notably The Prodigy on their famous Voodoo People album in the 1990s. Today, Kain works in a variety of musical formations, which serve as vehicles for his irreducible singularity.

For le Printemps de septembre he is performing with his faithful musical partner Jeff Hollies, also known for his work with Frank Zappa, on saxophone, and with Percy Jones, son of the American jazz drummer Al Jones, on drums.
