As part of The Night of Courtyards.

The Night of the Courtyards, which took place for the first time in 2016, is an invitation to roam the city. You will walk from one courtyard of a private mansion to another to discover a selection of films by artists chosen for their propensity to take us on a journey from dreamlike worlds to singular sound compositions, under the stars.

It's August, the heat is suffocating, the atmosphere saturated with sound and colour. Dozens of naked babies with garlands of money around their necks are presented as an offering to the statue of Saint Sebastian. Shouts, songs, explosions... this votive festival is so carnal and exuberant that it seems to have been staged by Pauline Curnier Jardin, until one notices the almost total absence of women. Inspired by the religious iconography that she likes to reinterpret, the artist has been filming the summer mutation of this small village for several years. From this abundance of rushes, she has written a feature film.

Drawing, film, performance, installation, Pauline Curnier Jardin's practice has been the subject of numerous exhibitions. Her film Grotta Profunda les humeurs du gouffre, shown at the 57th Venice Biennale, was produced for the Printemps de Septembre 2011.
