Robert Wilson

05.12.95 - 05.28.95
Video — Boulevard Léon-Gambetta

Born in 1941, he lives in the United States.

Since his first stage designs (The Deaf Man's Gaze, 1971), which revolutionised the codes of theatrical space, Robert Wilson has continued his research through different media in order to expand the space of the stage. His video pieces, like so many hybrid environments, often intended to be integrated into a public space are marked by a few major characteristics: futility, brevity, banality and closure. Despite their formalism and sophistication, Robert Wilson's images show a concern for the suspension of meaning, for condensation in the pause, like visions without comment.
