Born in 1964 in Copenhagen (Denmark),he lives and works in New York (USA) and Copenhagen.
Joachim Koester recontextualises film fragments in mysterious photographic and video installations.
The artist is interested in the film technique "Day For Night", which maks possible to film a night scene by day. It is a standard technique, Truffaut's American Night being the reference. Joachim Koester has adapted this technique to photography in the series Day for night, Christiania, 1996.
