Born 1964 in Munich (Germany), he lives in Berlin.
Thomas Demand holds a special place in contemporary German photography. His rendering of reality has taken the side of reconstitution, of simulation. This results in perfect images, with a pop spirit, of imperfect objects because they are stylised. A universe reconstituted for archival purposes, a universe itself obsessed with administrative, filing, bureaucratic places...
