Born in 1922 in Semeniskai (Lithuania), he lives in New York (USA).

A major figure in American experimental cinema, Jonas Mekas rubbed shoulders with and filmed all the actors of the New York counterculture. He is one of the initiators of autobiographical cinema, which takes the form of a diary in which time and space are condensed by a dizzying montage of images from the past and present, fed by an acute political and historical awareness.

In Cahors, he presents a series of photograms that he calls his "immobile films", as well as a selection of recent films.
