Jonathan Monk's works revisit the great moments of history and art history, by summoning certain mythical figures of our contemporaneity. This evocation always contains a certain ironic casualness, as in the series Waiting for famous people where the artist waits in the airport lobby, holding in his hand a panel on which is written the name of a famous personality (politician, film hero or deceased artist...).
