Peter Land, Step Ladder Blues, 1995

Born in 1966 in Aarhus (Denmark), he lives in Copenhagen.

Through tragi-comic situations, documented by photographs or videos, Peter Land tries to define his identity as an artist. In the installation Step Ladder Blues, he is busy repainting the hallway and keeps falling off his ladder with Wagner's Overture to Tannhäuser on the background. Peter Land undermines the heroic figure of the artist-demiurge, and suggests with ironic pessimism the countless fiascos of human history.
