Born in 1970 in Birmingham (England), he lives there.

For seven years, Richard Billingham has been photographing his family in their Midlands flat. His unemployed and alcoholic father, his obese mother, his brother and a few dogs and cats are the protagonists of this violent and burlesque world. Prisoners of a space that, like a theatre stage, is totally devoid of private spaces, these characters, through their setbacks and abandonment, forcefully prove that they are alive.
