Born in 1970 in St. Petersburg (Russia), she lives and works in Vienna.

Through her video installations and photographs, Anna Jermolaewa points to intimate or urban scenes - a dog feeding her puppies (Mutterschaft), a chicken grilling in a rotisserie (Das Hendltriptychon), a game in a fair (Flip a chick), a crane in a car dump (Trash) - which she rearranges in humorous configurations, aiming to provoke a shifted perception of reality, in which the dimension of the sensible is exacerbated.

The work shown in Cahors, Das Quartett (1999), presents on several monitors four sonorous children's toys, a chameleon, a doll, a monkey with cymbals and a bear with a tambourine, starting a cacophony that empties them of their original innocence.
