Born in 1952 in Creutzwald (France), he lives and works in Paris.
In the 1970s, Vilmouth discovered in England new approaches to sculpture based on the reinvestment of everyday objects, which he charged with a new poetic meaning, an approach he defined by the "principle of augmentation" consisting of allowing the viewer to see his or her environment differently. In the same way, in his bar projects or his public sculptures, Vilmouth invites everyone to rediscover their territory, their language and their history, as well as their natural environment. His works offer real spaces for experimentation and sensations, as shown by a recent installation at the University of Milwaukee (a pool where you can take a dirt bath and then shower, an environment of sound and light where you can develop "a mental image").
In Cahors, he presents a new installation composed of photographs and a video from the Bars series.
