Maria Marshall presents simultaneously two videos at the Grenier du Chapitre.

Born in 1966 in Bombay (India), she lives and works in London.

Maria Marshall's work, born of sculptural research, has recently developed through large-scale video projections - which have met with considerable success in the United States - based on a child's world often troubled by threats and risks, the ambiguity of which provokes in the viewer an uneasiness coupled with fascination, particularly for the plastic quality of the images. The image is worked with the sculptural sensitivity of the artist, the physical experiences linked to the body and the sensory constituting essential elements of the work.

The video work shown in the Outside section, I did like being born, I put my wings, then I flied (1999), shows a child immersed in water, in a slow rhythm where sound and silence alternate, without one knowing whether he is floating or drowning.
