Martin Wald also exhibits at Moulin Saint-James.
Born in 1957 in Innsbruck (Austria), he lives and works in Vienna and New York (USA).
The Austrian artist Martin Walde, shown notably at Dokumenta X in Kassel, has developed an original body of work based on soap, silicone, wax, cotton or plastic; participative installations, videos, photographs and drawings. Soap, the material he uses and which is linked to his own history (his father ran a soap factory), symbolises in itself his approach, which consists of transforming the material and making it undergo improbable configurations.
For the Printemps de Cahors he created the work NAM (Aftermath series, 2000), a workshop for recycling and producing objects, notably inner tubes, which the artist activated during the first weekend of the Nuits-Blanches and made available to the public in the garage at the entrance to the Grenier du Chapitre.
