Vidya Gastaldon and Jean-Michel Wicker, both from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Grenoble, have been working together since 1994, sometimes with other artists such as Serge Comte. In the mode of humour and impertinence, their work, initially made up of installations based on Polaroid self-portraits, developed a utopian, light atmosphere, influenced by a post-hippie mysticism, where the cult of the moment was combined with glamorous, disco or playful references (disguises, woollen pompoms, stickers etc.). In parallel, they made several "uneventful film" projects, including Ganz Angst (1996) and today's Audi, Beyond grinding halt, Centre point (2000), a panoramic "ambient" film, like a mirage or wall-painting, made with Sidney Stucki.
