Maren Strack

Concept: Maren Strack, Johann Lorbeer.

The work of Maren Strack, a graduate of the Munich School of Fine Arts and a dancer, is as much sculpture as dance. In her incisive performances, she confronts a material, whether raw or processed, destroying or distorting it with movements that are as violent in reality as they may appear harmonious and fluid at first glance. In her latest creation, Latex (30'), the performer, herself constrained and attached to the architecture by her feet and hair, puts to the test the resistance and twisting capacities of a latex dress fixed to the floor which she stretches to twice its length. The performance oscillates between a dreamlike image and the materialization of physical constraints.
