Born in 1967 in Oiso (Japan), he lives and works in Paris.
Ryuta Amae's images reference the idea of functional and archetypal models. They exist as a way of exploring hidden, obscure areas where it is impossible to define the real using words. It is in this sense that they can be described as "subliminal images", put together in order to penetrate the viewer's unconscious and to summon up the illusion of a collective memory.
