Antonella Bussanich

Video installation — Fondation d'entreprise espace écureuil pour l'art contemporain

antonella bussanich, marche infinie (hozno naashado), 2001

tableau vidéo 3'

musique : antony héquet

Born in 1963 in Viareggio (Italy), she lives in Montoire-sur-le-Loire (France).

This Italian artist's video installations explore how the body senses movements, space and time.

In the work on view here, Marche infinie (hozho naashado) (2001), Bussanich borrows the final verses recited at a Navajo ritual healing ceremony. A woman's gait, aiming her steps in a natural, even way towards the infinite and reciting these verses in different languages, undoubtely calls for a meeting with what remains of myth and magic in our contemporary existence.
