Hans Op de Beeck also presents a video at the Hôtel d'Assézat.

Born in 1969 in Turnhout (Belgium), he lives in Brussels.

Hans Op de Beeck actually works with commonplace scenes, with situation which are very often bland, occuring (or happening to us) in our daily round. For example, a man and a woman sitting at a cafe table, neither looking at nor talking to each other for more than eight minutes, the lost look of a child through the rear window of a car, the image of a family walking towards nowhere in a hurry, a man sitting on a chair staring at the camera. These are all petty and usually unwritting gestures but under the artist's eye they are converted into real metaphors of the human condition. Themes such as the lack of communication and expectation invariably run through the work of this Belgian video, installation artist and photographer.
