Luc delahaye, univers, 2001

tirage couleur numérique sur aluminium, 67 x 100cm

commande del'université de toulouse-le-mirail en coproduction avec le centre de photographie de lectoure et traphot.com, montrouge

Born in 1962 in Tours (France), he lives in Paris.

In 1985, Delahaye devoted his work to documenting armed conflict and war (Afghanistan, Bosnia, Chechnya, Palestine). In 2001, Luc Delahaye received a commission from Toulouse University to photograph the day-to-day life of its students. Delahaye duly moved to this city for a few weeks and not only produced the commissioned work but also found himself thoroughly intrigued by the "Mirail" neighbourhood. As a result, his work assumed a quite new dimension. Devoid of any kind of sentimentality and with a certain surgical chill about them, these images - Univers (2001) - are transformed into a symbol of the way "city-planning dreams" can brush against precariousness and vulnerability.
