Lincoln Tobier

Installation — Public space

Born in 1964 in New York, he lives there.

For nearly ten years now, Lincoln Tobier has been creating a series of autonomous radio stations in the United States and Europe. In the town where he intervenes, he thus stages actions in which (by means of posters or leaflets) he usually invites local inhabitants to take part in the creation of bona fide radio shows. These programmes, which are conceived by the citizens in collaboration with the artist and his assistant, are later broadcast on the airwaves of a partner radio station. Tobier thus explores the mechanisms of communication while enabling individuals to reappropriate public and media space.

He has been invited to carry out a similar project in Toulouse for a few weeks, and will make a serie of programmes with local citizens for broadcast during the festival.
