Born in 1966 in Bourg-en-Bresse (France), she lives in Paris.

In this new series of photographs Véronique Elléna sets out to show the forms taken by faith in the modern world. How should this be presented? Prayer, confession and blessing are actions that express belief and are manifested in ritual gestures. What is their meaning for those who perform them? How does religion impact on architecture? What objects does religion produce? Is altruism a manifestation of faith? By visiting different places of worship and religious communities in France and elsewhere the artist seeks to answer these complex questions while producing a portrait of the believers, of those who have the faith.

Commissioned by the Centre National des Arts Plastiques, Paris.
