Jamie Lidell

Concert — Jardin Raymond VI

Jamie Lidell became known through his participation in the duo Super Collider with Christian Vogel. His first solo album, Muddlin'Gear for Spymania Records, is a mixture of genres and recording techniques. The influences of Tod Dockstader, the American experimentalist whom Jamie Lidell admires for his mastery and humour, can be found here, as well as Marvin Gaye, whose album "What's Going On" contains elements of Sun Ra and Pharoah Sanders. A complex and clever album, which plays on the rupture without leaving aside the pleasure of the listener. His live performances are worth the diversions, as we saw at Sonar in Barcelona in 2003 and at Nuits Sonores in Lyon in 2004.
