Born in 1979 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Lives and works in Paris, France.

With her dual Brazilian and British nationality, Camila Oliveira Fairclough elected in 1999 to pursue her training, embarked upon in Rio de Janeiro, at the School of Fine Arts in Paris. She is developing a rudimentary form of abstract painting which reactivates the basic pictorial issues that spanned the history of the 20th century, via geometric abstraction, Minimal Art, and Pop Art. Her art turns the space of the canvas into an arena of experimentation in which the ratios of rhythms, structures, composition and colour are all declared to attempt to question painting itself and its reception. Its primary forms are not, strictly speaking, diagrammatic forms of real elements, but they nevertheless keep a close link with the world. They ring out in each one of us like memories fanned by a collective memory.
