Florentine and Alexandre Lamarche-Ovize produce drawings, paintings and sculptures with a declared fondness for mixing genres and materials. Their multi-facetted oeuvre challenges our understanding of categories, and aims to de-frame painting, de-structure sculpture, and come up with lively forms which function like so many fragments of a meaning to be reconstructed. The different features proliferate, composing a pictorial/sculptural language that stakes out an open, special world. Their work derives as much from the street and its rubbish as from art. It is presented like an uncertain hybridization which develops in space with a controlled fragility.
