Andreas Dobler

Exhibition — Galerie GHP

Capriccio, 2008 © Andreas Döbler

Born in 1963 in Biel (Switzerland), he lives in Zurich (Switzerland).

A painter by training, Andreas Dobler is also conspicuously involved in the fields of film, electronic music, drawing and theatre. Delving into cultural stereotypes and prefabricated imagery—coming as much from rock music, horror movies, art history, and science-fiction as from the erotic world—, his paintings offer viewers projection spaces associating desire and fear, fuelled by the consumer society.

What are you preparing for le Printemps de septembre ?

An hysterical representation of things leaving illustrations behind in the depths of [one’s] mind.

What does the festival’s subtitle “Here where I am doesn’t exist” mean to you?
My astral body seems to have fun while I’m stuck here paying bills.

What does art help you accomplish?
Great happiness with regard to the masses and a stable flow of self-satisfaction.
