Born 1984, he ives and works in Berlin and Paris.

“My artistic approach is all about looking for motifs in unusual places, about encounters and dialogues with people met by chance during my wanderings. Based on sketches and the impressions gathered at the time, the works I create stage the experience of visions inspired and reinterpreted by my sensibility and personal references as a Franco-German artist. This twofold vision produces a kind of alienation effect (Verfremdung) that is conducive to a dialogue between the work and the spectator. What characterises poetic reverie, the alliance of the artist’s vision and the words of others, is that they go beyond oppositions and reconcile contraries, bringing the distant close and the past into the contemporary. The idea is to create a timeless, universal world between reality and the imaginary dimension introduced by the artist.”

Édouard Baribeaud presents a series of paintings and drawings, both in black and white and in colour, and a video following the poetical peregrinations of a strange knight, in urban, maritime or uncertain Brazilian landscapes.

Exhibition co-programmed and coproduced with Le Pavillon Blanc, Centre d’Art I Médiathèque de Colomiers, and le Printemps de septembre.
