Made by Koji Shima in 1956, Warning from Space was the first Japanese science fiction film in colour. Flying saucers are sighted over Tokyo and mysterious, humanoid visitors arrive in the city, trying to stem the panic. They warn the earthlings that a flaming comet is heading straight for their planet, and that this is an opportunity for them to rid themselves of their nuclear weapons...
Eddie Ladoire and Guillaume Laidain will perform a musical improvisation in response to the images of this nuclear extraterrestrial practical joke, playing with objects and using synthesizers and computers to process the sound in real time. The music they create is a mixture of 1970s electronica, club music and modern Krautrock, in a kind of homage to vintage analogue sound. For this second version, which is being given its first presentation at le Printemps de septembre, the duo are joined by Pierre Bastien and his Mecanium, a band made up of dozens of Meccano robots playing traditional musical instruments and, sometimes, utensils.
