This quartet of four Moscow personalities from the world of architecture was formed in 1987. In 1995, it became a quartet with the arrival of Vladimir Fridkes, a fashion photographer. The collective creates works using a variety of media: photos, often reworked on the computer, videos and sometimes drawings, paintings and sculptures. Their work has been widely exhibited, notably in biennials around the world such as those in Venice, Lyon, Sydney, Moscow, Istanbul and Seoul.

 

A distanced aesthetic, likely to perplex the viewer, is found in the photographic ensemble presented in Toulouse. It took three years of work to create The Feast of Trimalchio, a modern transposition of an episode from the Satiricon by the Latin poet Petronius. Fascinated by the orgiastic feasts organised by Trimalcion, an enriched slave who was the first 'parvenu' in history, the artist collective intends to pay tribute to 'the imagination of Petronius, whose name has become synonymous with wealth and luxury, gluttony and unbridled pleasure that contrast with the brevity of existence.
