In the framework of The Night of Courtyards

We are in the month of August, the heat is suffocating and the atmosphere saturated with sounds and colours. Dozens of naked babies with tinsels of banknotes around their necks are presented as an offering to the statue of Saint Sebastian. Cries, songs, fireworks... this votive festival is so carnal and exuberant that one would think it was staged by Pauline Curnier Jar- din, until one notices the almost total absence of women. Inspired by reli- gious iconography, which she likes to re-interpret, the artist filmed the summer mutations of this small village over several years. Based on abun- dant rushes, she has made a full-length film.
