Vacaciones (Holidays) is an installation made up of several postcard stands, each containing 24 images which recur and alternate in accordance with a set rhythm. The postcards represent places that might evoke disenchantment or fascination. Stereotypes about leisure culture, empty time and the strategies that are supposed to counter the horror vacui are among the themes Ignasi López reflects on in his work. In concrete terms, and in response to a commission from the festival, he will “go on holiday in Toulouse” for a month and a half. The postcards published by the artist by way of a souvenir of this holiday – “holidays: rest, cessation of ordinary working occupations” – will not only be exhibited during the festival, but also made available to all visitors.

Commissioned by the Centre National des Arts Plastiques, Paris; with the collaboration of the Institut Cervantes, Toulouse.
