Probing the subtle relations between private and public space, Veit Stratmann will present two series of works in symbolic locations around the city: the Place du Capitole and the Jacobins cloister. Consisting of seats set on castors, the “Anneaux” (Rings) are mobile sculptures that take their formal vocabulary from street furniture. Credible because of their familiar, functional appearance, Veit Stratmann’s sculptures set up a double dialogue. All potential users, whether visitors to the exhibitions or simple passers-by, are invited to determine the status of these Rings by their attitude towards them (they can sit down, move the object or ignore it). As they are moved around the cloister or chapter house at the Jacobins, so these objects will also come into contact with the works by Montserrat Soto and Jason Karaïndros.

With the collaboration of the Goethe Institut, Toulouse.
