Born in 1972 in Pithiviers (France), he lives in Paris.

Stéphane Benoît (a recent graduate of the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris) creates hand drawings in small formats, such as building instructions or diagrams for made-up games, which he then transfers onto large plaques of lacquered aluminium. The lines seem to hover between possible structures, non-existent volumes, and abstract marks, apparently abandoned, caught between potential and realisation. The colours can be dull, pale, barely perceptible, or lively and arresting. In his compositions, Benoît seems to push hesitation to its limits in order to explode its elements into life on the surface of the canvas, from pure white into bright light.

He presents a recent series of works in les Abattoirs – Musée Frac Occitanie Toulouse..
