Considering that rock ‘n' roll should always be “funny, silly and chaotic”, Black Lips keeps quite well to its own motto. Hailing from Atlanta, this garage rock group stands out on account of its raw energy, its primitive , dirty sound, tinged with blues and punk, and a hard-line sense of humour that pulls no punches. Formed in 2000, it swiftly developed a reputation as a band that was uncontrollable on stage—it is actually banned from several venues i n the US. Each one of its stage performances offers its dose of excess and craziness. Over and above their undeniable qualities as performers, the members of Black Lips know above all how to write extraordinarily effective songs, with bitter-sweet lyrics and simple, addictive melodies.
