Born in 1966 in Zürich (Switzerland), she lives there.

Photographer and video maker, Marianne Mueller has recorded fragments of life and landscape from around the world which she presents in her film, Standing Still/Travelling Slowly made between 2001 and 2002.

Marianne Mueller embarked on her career by using her own life as her artistic terrain, focusing her photographic way of seeing things on her own body, her immediate surroundings, and the tiniest things of day-to-day life. The artist is interested in everyday gestures, and has subsequently developed her praxis in the direction of larger projects. Travelling the world and running counter to the normal flow of information, she has recorded fragments of life and landscapes which she presents in an evocative way to visitors in her film Standing Still / Travelling Slowly, made between 2001 and 2002.

What does the subtitle of the exhibition "Where I am, does not exist" mean to you?

Because the images I see do not exist.

What does art allow you to accomplish?

In my work, I displace time and glue the space equivalent of two millimetres of time together.

Under the direction of Christian Bernard and Michel Métayer, director of the Toulouse School of Fine Arts, a colloquium/meeting on the theme of the exhibition narrative.
