Born 1971 in Washington, he lives in New York.

Michael Portnoy questions social exchanges and modes of communication. Created especially for the festival, and exhibited with two previous productions, Fran Spafa Feda is a game table whose rules are created live and in public during a performance: four players sit around a table with sinuous contours. Various objects are placed on the table. The players have one hour - at the rate of consecutive 10-minute sessions - to compose game sessions with the only means at their disposal: the table, the objects and their presence. The rules are random and depend on the context and the participants. The participants are nevertheless helped by the artist, who acts as master of ceremonies. More than a game, it is a common language that they must create.
