Conception and performance: Marlene Monteiro Freitas
Lighting: Anatol Waschke
Music: Johannes Krieger (trumpet), "Rotcha Scribida" by Amandio Cabral, Cookie (drums), Otomo Yoshihide (excerpt from guitar solo), Anatol Waschke (shrapnel)

This solo began with a character that the Cap Verdean dancer Marlene Monteiro Freitas constructed on the basis of a memory of a concert, a character that she has called Guintche. This figure has grown, acquired its own life and independence, and even become a dance. With a grotesque smile plastered across her face, Marlene Monteiro dances with her belly, moves and snorts, circling the stage as if in a trance. Swept along by the repetitive, circular rhythm of the music, her body shrinks, expands and is transformed while her face is disfigured and reveals African masks.

With Guintche, Marlene Monteiro Freitas has created an intense and bewitching dance performance.
