Born 1978 in Bergamo (Italy), he lives and works in Bergamo and New York.

Although Andrea Mastrovito’s work ranges across painting, collage and paper installations, drawing is his medium of preference. He uses history as a pretext for revisiting mythologies and big subjects such as death and suffering. His reading is iconoclastic, inclines towards narrative, and sets ancient myths alongside modern imagery. In his Martyres series from 2011 the artist reinterprets scenes of martyrdom inspired by The Gospel According to Jesus Christ by Portuguese novelist José Saramago.

"Visits dialogue" about the works: October 13, 11am, November 10, 11h and December 1st, 11am

Every years since 2008 the Printemps de Septembre and the Centre d’Art de Colomiers have worked together to put on an exhibition directly related to the annual theme of the Printemps festival.

Exhibition from 28 September to 8 December 2012.
