Born in 1969 in Beirut (Lebanon), they live between Beirut and Paris.

Artists and filmmakers, Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige belong to a generation of Lebanese authors who are in direct contact with the conflictual and complex history of their country, and who do not dissociate aesthetic acts from political thought. Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige publish, teach at the University of Beirut, and make short and feature films, documentaries and fiction. For example, Khiam 2000-2007, which has won awards at numerous festivals, and Je veux voir, with Catherine Deneuve and Rabih Mroué (Official Selection at Cannes, 2008). They produce installations in the context of international museums and art centres. In 2012, they presented their first solo exhibition at the Beirut Exhibition Center and won the Abraaj Capital Art Prize (Dubai). In France, they participated in the Lyon Biennial (2011) and the Triennial at the Palais de Tokyo (2012). Their work has been included in important private and public collections.

Khiam 2000-2007 is programmed at the BBB art centre in two successive group exhibitions, "Stratégies des espaces" (April-July 2012) and "L'Histoire est à moi! "which brings into play the physical and sensitive experience of the spectator who will have seen the two programmatic proposals, between the autonomy of the work and the contextualisation of artistic discourses. It is the activation of a form of archive and memory of the place for those who discover the installation proposed on the occasion of Paul Ardenne's project "L'histoire est à moi! ". It is above all the intrinsic quality of the work that deserves to be widely disseminated.
