A graduate of Goldsmiths University (2010) and Central St. Martin’s College of Art & Design (2011) in London, the work of this young greek artist has been presented in several group shows and international festivals. In his works, Andreas Pashias uses the body as object, tool and material for examining the relation existing between what is live and its visual articulation with video, installation and photography. With regard to Philopeomen à Sellasie, a sculpture by Bernard Lange dated 1829 presented in the museum’s Salon Rouge, Andreas Pashias is interested here in the notion of masculinity by exploring the process of “shaving” as the sign of a social and individual construction or as the metaphor of a process of vandalism.
